OH1NOA Baltic Summer Tour 2024

June 17, 2024 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

Here we go again! Look for OH1NOA from the Baltic WWFF parks:

30.6.-3.7.2024 ES0 Saaremaa Island IOTA EU-034 as ES0NO and ES9EFF.

3.7.-11.7.2024 ES (Southern) mainland, YL and (Northern) LY WWFF parks as ES1NOA/x, YL/OH1NOA and LY/OH1NOA mainly max. one per day.

I also try to set up base station at Karala 30.6.-3.7.2024 as ES0NO mainly on FT8 operating from rare QRA locator KO08. I will use my new call ES0NO.

OH1NOA WWFF Summer Tour 2020 to Baltic States

July 01, 2020 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

Last year in Finland, this year in Baltics!

OH1NOA operates between the 12th and 26th July 2020 from Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian WWFF-references.

Preliminary schedule:
12.-13.7. ES1NOA/x
14.-17.7. YL/OH1NOA
17.-20.7. LY/OH1NOA
21.7. YL/OH1NOA
22.-26.7. ES1NOA/x

It is possible that after this I will activate some OHFF-references as well. And in the IARU contest I may work shortly qsos as ES1NOA/2 (no WWFF).
I estimate to active 25-30 WWFF-references, some of them will be all time new ones.

Like last year, this year you can earn a free PDF-format special award if you work me at least 44 times! You only need to send me your name, call sign and valid email-address.

I will update the references which I am planning to active one or two days earlier to the WWFF.co Agenda page. Notice that the time schedules are rough estimates, this is our vacation! Check also World Wide Flora & Fauna Facebook-page for (hopefully) daily updates.

My equipment will be TS-2000 running 30-80 watts and 41m EndFed-antenna at 7m SOTA Beams pole.

My favourite frequencies are 3544, 3694, 7024, 7085/7195, 10124, 14044, 14144/14320, 18084, 18144, 21044, 21244, 24904, 24944, 28044, 28444.

QSL via bureau and LOTW.

Viime vuonna Suomi, tänä vuonna Baltia!

OH1NOA aktivoi aikavälillä 12.-26.7.2020 Viron, Latvian ja Liettuan WWFF-kohteita.

Alustava aikataulu:

12.-13.7. ES1NOA/x
14.-17.7. YL/OH1NOA
17.-20.7. LY/OH1NOA
21.7. YL/OH1NOA
22.-26.7. ES1NOA/x

Tavoitteena on aktivoida 25-30 kohdetta, joiden joukossa monia ensimmäistä kertaa aktivoituja puskia.

World Wide Flora & Faunan ja OHFF Flora & Fauna Finland -Facebook-sivuille päivittelen reissun etenemistä.

OH0 DX-pedition results

June 04, 2019 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

My 4-day trip to the Aland Islands is now over. In variable weather I managed to get quite good results. I activated all 8 references which I had planned and I was also active from the cottage on FT8 every evening and morning after and before WWFF-trips. I have already sent my logs to OHFF Log Manager and uploaded them to LOTW. Soon I will print QSL-cards. Notice that my LOTW-qsos have also OH county information for OHCA award.

WWFF: OH1NOA/P South OH1 Weekend 6.-7.4.2019

April 03, 2019 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

OH1NOA/P will be active from the several OHFFs during the weekend Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of April 2019.

Preliminary schedule:

Saturday 6th:

0730-0900 Kivijärven metsät OHFF-0682 NEW ONE!

1000-1130 Laajoen suiston luonnonsuojelualue OHFF-0058 (last activation in 2014)

1330-1500 Ruissalon lehdot OHFF-0190 (last activation in 2017)

Sunday 7th:

0730-0900 Kurjenrahkan kansallispuisto OHFF-0009 (national park, last activation in 2017)

1100-1230 Himmaistenrahkan luonnonsuojelualue OHFF-0686 NEW ONE!

Times are just estimations as I have 1,5h drive from home to the first reference and the length of operation depends how much pileup I have. Also it depends on how much time it takes to erect the antenna. Fortunately now we have already enough light to operate all the way till 1700 Z if needed.

Equipment is my normal: TS-2000E running about 75 watts with 2x25aH batteries and 41m long EFHW (and 40/30/20m linked dipole as a backup). I use 7m long fishing pole to support the wire.

I will operate around these frequencies: 3544, 3690, 7024, 7144, 10124, 14044, 14244, 18084, 18144 but especially SSB QRGs change often because of QRM. I will also selfspot everytime I change band/mode but your spots are also much appreciated.

QSL via OH1NOA via LOTW and bureau.

AIH40 Day 7 – 21.11.2014

November 22, 2014 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

The last full day in Aihkiniemi. Our plan is to leave around midday tomorrow after band dies to USA. Jormas JHT and JM will be AIH41 arriving later on Saturday. This morning we had quite nice opening to Great Lakes and NY area. At the moment I don’t know exactly how long the opening was but at 0600 it was peaking nicely. Eg. 790 WAYY, 910 WSUI, 930 WBEN (Buffalo NY where they had 6 ft of snow, maybe more power for this reason? WWKB was out one night earlier), 950 WNTD, 970 WDCZ (also Buffalo), 980 WCUB and 980 WITY. Later around 11 UTC usual AK stations came in and I was able to get 3 new ones: 790 KCAM, 870 KSKO and 1110 KAGV. Now our AK-id total is 20. There was also a path to Hawaiji and 940 KKNE and 1570 KUAU were identified. Asian direction we have not checked yet.

The job of the day was to remove a temporary 1000 meter, 210 degrees “Gibraltar-antenna” from the woods. It took over 2 hours but we did it! Antenna was important as we got eg. RNE Melilla! The afternoon was spent at Jounila cottage with much needed sauna and shower. During the evening we checked the files, had some beers and enjoyed about foxfires – the second time this week (and only days with clear skies).

Menu and beer of the day: chicken fillet with potatoes and cream, Mikkeller Beer Geek BreAKfast (Alaskan Edition) (to celebrate 20 AKs).

The first FM QSLs have arrived

August 05, 2014 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

Finally I have done with the reception reports for last season’s MW stations. Unfortunately those South Americans (and some US stations) have been very lazy to answer to me. But now I started with FM reports and I’ve got few nice replays.

659. RNE1 Canarias, Las Palmas 576 kHz

I heard this at my original home QTH in the Christmas Eve of 2012. Now I got v/s info from PW and José Carlos García Montesdeoca, Medios Técnicos de RNE Las Palmas replied quickly.

660. WWNN Pompano Beach FL 1470 kHz

Short email confirmed this station.

661. HCCC5 Ondas Cañaris – R. Universitaria Catolica, Azogues 1530 kHz

One of the best QSLs of the season. Dr. José Antonio Robles Ocampo, Locutor, replied in one day. 14 MW stations from Ecuador heard during the last season but only 3 QSLs got!

662. Radio Fokus 91.60 MHz

Serbian station and my first Serbian QSL on FM! Replied via email.

663. Radio Postaja Kiseljak 92.70 MHz

Nice Bosnian station replied via email quickly.

664. Radio Classique 91.00 MHz

This is a chain station from France. As far as I know they don’t have local pxs or ads. Chloé Salmona, Responsable Communication replied in 3 days.

665. Radio Omega 90.90 MHz

This was nice catch as it is only one tx local station from Montbéliard, near Swiss border. Jean-Philippe Gueutal replied and sent this link. Very handy, you don’t have to write long letters to explain how it is possible to hear the station. Of course, in this case, we are not radioamateurs (although I have call OH1NOA too).

666. France Bleu Gard Lozère 90.20 MHz

QSL was received quickly when I emailed directly to the boss: Fabienne Bureau. Never heard this France Bleu local from Nimes before.

Comments:

Thanks to Jukka, OH6LI for the opportunity to operate this contest from his fine
station. The station worked very well. Propagation was below normal and bands
went up and down quite rapidly. Low bands provided very little DX.

Despite of tricky condx, this score is above the current Finnish SOAB record.
